Grand Haven Dental Implants

An implant is generally the recommended way to replace a missing tooth or a tooth that needs to be extracted. It will feel most like a natural tooth.

The procedure requires a titanium implant to be fitted into your jaw (bone) to replace the lost tooth's root. Once the implant is anchored into the bone, the bone around the implant requires six weeks to six months of healing. Once the bone has healed, a support post and replacement tooth is anchored onto the implant.

Although implants can be expensive and take some time to heal, they are the most predictable and permanent way to replace a tooth.

If a tooth needs to be extracted, it may be recommended to do a bone graft in order to keep as much bone as possible in the area so that the doctor has more room to work with when placing the implant.

Implants can also replace an area of missing teeth or an entire arch of missing teeth with an implant-retained bridge or implant-retained denture.
